Cities: Possibilities 2021 - Net Zero Cities

About

The global Covid-19 pandemic has forced cities across the planet into lockdown on an unprecedented scale. Yet, despite the prolonged crisis, global carbon emissions continue to rise.

Since the landmark Paris Agreement on climate change in 2015, rising power demand has outpaced clean energy growth, underlining the difficult road ahead in meeting global climate targets. Meanwhile, the global population continues to grow, and by 2050, two thirds of humanity – some 6.5 billion people – will live in cities.

As demand for energy, food, water, infrastructure, healthcare, and citizen services intensifies, how will we ensure an equitable quality of life for all citizens while living within our planetary boundaries and achieving our climate targets?

Held in the same week as the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference, also known as COP26, this timely forum will bring together key stakeholders to raise climate ambition in Asia.

In this 2021 edition of Cities | Possibilities, Eco-Business will provide the platform for high-level decision makers to discuss pathways to net zero for cities, as we look at the opportunities and challenges across Asia in the next decade.
